LASER SURGERY
LASER SURGERY FOR VARICOSE VEINS TREATMENT
Endovenous Laser Treatment (EVLT) for varicose veins treatment, eliminates varicose veins by pulsing heat via radio frequency to treat the internal problem. Blood no longer collects and pools in the vein, easing the pressure that causes the discomfort associated with varicose veins.
During your consultation, Dr. Gomez will perform an ultrasound to determine the source of the problem causing the varicose vein. After identifying the issue, he develops a treatment plan and explains what to expect. The varicose veins treatment plan is submitted to your medical insurance carrier, which may cover the cost entirely.
Before your procedure, a local anesthetic is injected to numb the area. Treatment is minimally invasive, and usually lasts around 20 minutes. Compression bandages are applied, and compression hosiery is required for a week following EVLT. Patients get back to their usual routine immediately, but need to wait a week before resuming exercise.
The pressure and discomfort from the varicose vein are relieved right away. A few weeks after EVLT, patients often return for a phlebectomy. In this quick session, the doctor makes a tiny incision called a micropuncture near the varicose vein, and removes it entirely. Once the vein is gone, there’s no more varicose vein to present a problem. The patient wears compression bandages for 48 hours, and returns to normal activity immediately.
